In 1919 Max Finkelstein and his brother Irving, along with Lloyd Giardino got into the tire business by accident. They would pick up used tires along their scrap metal route and sell them for nickels and dimes. Together they set up shop next to the 30th Avenue station in Astoria, Queens.

After a while, without an inventory, the three junk shop owners and neophyte tire salesmen, started selling new tires. If a customer would call up and want tires they didn't have, Max would jump on the subway and hotfoot it to Manhattan, pick up the tires at a dealer there and jump back on the train to Astoria. Irving would handle things at the store and Lloyd would fix flats and pump gas.

By the 1990's, Harold & Jerry Finkelstein (Irving's two sons) expanded the business into a multi-location wholesale distributor with locations in Ronkonkoma and Elmsford New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Over the years, the company philosophy has stayed the same. Fast service and a strict code of ethics are still the trademarks and the customer is still the most important person in the business. Nothing is too small to be bothered with; nothing is forgotten.

Now, in our fourth generation, we are still very much a family business. Grandparents, children, cousins, siblings and in-laws, all working together to ensure the integrity of the business is not compromised.

But family is more than blood lines at Max Finkelstein, loyalty and dedication to our employees is witnessed by our high employee retention rate, many of whom remain with us until retirement.

Based in Astoria, New York, our trading area covers 12 states, from Virginia to Maine. We service our customers from 13 distribution centers with over 1.3 million square feet of warehouse space. Our dedicated delivery fleet of 150+ vehicles provides dependable, on-time delivery to thousands of satisfied customers.
